There really isn’t a need for top end starter in this system. I also can’t imagine any starter who fancy’s themselves a one or a two wanting to be in this system. I could see Glasnow leaving at the first chance, that is if he isn’t dealt before he gets a chance to.

I disagree.  Yes the Rays are outside the box.  They have a plethora of arms to combat all types of hitters.

But you still need a top end Starter or 2 to make an all around great pitching staff imo.

Snell has been getting more and more consistent since the injuries.  He did have too high of a pitch count before.  But he seems to his best days ahead of him.  We would be foolish to let him go....Love Morton too be is getting oldish and not as dominant.

All the rays really want is for the starter to get through the rotation two times and have no problem using a an opener. Top end guys separate themselves by being able to into the third time through. That’s not a necessity in Tampa’s philosophy. They can sell high on Snell and still do what they want.

Ii dont know that to be fully true anymore. We will see how Cash manages things next year.  I think mostly your right.

But Cash said he is still having sleepless nights having pulled Snell in the WS.

Snell is one of those cy young type candidates.  You really want to lose such a talent due to Rays philosophy?

If its a different pitcher in there and we are losing 5-0 innings in the 3rd inning then what does it matter.

That's because it didn't work.  It's what managers do.  Snell's pitch counts are still high.  If they trade him, they will get top prospects that they will have under control longer

And thats the Rays way....and they almost always do **** well with these trades.

So Im not completely adverse to this approach if this is the way it goes.

I just think for next year specifically it will be a really big hit to lose both Snell and Morton all at once.

This team has proven that they are built to win now.  And in our position almost no room for error.

Not sure why, that decision was made the night before, and he didn't make it.

Who made it then?

And for the most part those trades worked in the Ray's favor

Front office analytics team. And No, it hasn’t. They are still chasing a ring.  They are really good at being really good though.

That's BS.  He's the manager ... period.  And the fact that they can compete in a division and league in general with the payroll they have shows that they work in their favor.   Lots of teams are "still" chasing a ring each year that spend a helluva lot more than they do each year.
