It's the passion. Ccs would never get upset and "verbally abuse" a player. He didnt care. Is it an age thing? Are he and CJL and the Pirate around the same age? I have no idea. As players and "correctness" change, maybe the younger coaches are more tuned in to that?

I don't think age has anything to do with if a person reacts well to more "intense" coaching methods. It all depends on the individual player, and how well the coach got the message across. All kinds of coaching styles have proven to be successful.

The point was that our older coaches lived and worked in a time where HR departments didn’t yield as much power and you could get away with some of this intense coaching. We have seen the pussification of our once great nation and left with a bunch of self absorbed twits that believe their lives are interesting enough to post every facet of their day and have been told at a young age that they are special and unique. Best advice I ever got from pops was that there are a dozen guys like you on every street corner, want to be successful than figure out a path and out work them. Yes I will get off my soap box and realize I sound like a crusty old bastard but what a bunch of sissy’s we have become. 1

That only successful coaches do it? No. Just that the 3 coaches that came to mind seem to be in roughly the same age group. I'm sure there are plenty of unsuccessful ones that do it and successful ones that don't scream a whole lot (at least caught on camera/recording).
