GAME DAY vs. Temple USF will hit the road for the third time in its last four games as the Bulls seek their first win in Philadelphia (0-3) in their fourth clash with Temple at Lincoln Financial Field, dating to 2012. The last two games in the series were taken by Temple by 10 points each, including a 27-17 victory in Philly in 2018. USF had a pair of tough losses to top 15 ranked opponents – No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 15 Cincinnati – in its previous two road games of the season. The Bulls are coming off their best passing game of the season and will look to end a three-game skid. YOUTH MOVEMENT: USF’s coaching staff, with an average age of 36.4, is the youngest in The American, just ahead of Temple’s staff with an average age of one year older, according to USA Today. THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN: Entering the season, USF’s experienced offensive line (particularly the left side) was expected to be a strength. Through the first three games of the year, that line had yet to take the field together. Last Saturday vs. ECU, they finally did and promptly led the Bulls on a 6-play, 65-yard touchdown drive in 1:37 on USF’s first possession. USF posted two more touchdown drives on the night, but the O-line clearly showed signs of needing to jell once again in game action as five sacks were allowed and the rushing attack sputtered. McCLOUD STAKES CLAIM TO STARTING JOB: Sophomore Jordan McCloud made his third start of the season vs. ECU and delivered his best passing game to date on his career, connecting on 26-of-35 (74%) of his passes for a career-best 298 yards (243 at half). He also got chunk plays of 52, 37 and 31 yards in the passing game as he began to deliver on USF’s desire to attack downfield in the passing game. McCloud is now connecting on 66% of his passes (17th nationally) on the year, well above his 55 percent mark of last season, and his 120.85 efficiency mark is well above any of the Bulls’ other three quarterbacks that have seen action.
