Coach must have been looking for help from above and saw this guy on the scissor lift.

Hmm, I'm going to have to xheck some rules then. In high school our Center/Ling Snapper was 285 lbs. And he used to just heave guys off his shoulders. Name was Chris Connaley. We had a lot of BEEF in Ohio back then. I was 225 lbs and was a Corner/DB.

Ryan Benjamin was 242 lbs when he won the Super Bowl with the Bucs. I’m guessing he may have been even lighter than 235 as a freshman for the Bulls.

there is a rule in college and the nfl that prevents you from hitting the long snapper for 1 second after snap. most long snappers are smaller to allow them to cover punts. most schools use walk-ons.

Alabama's long snapper is a senior who weighs 231 lbs

I love this idea! C'mon what a good story. You only need the fella for that specific task. Love that he went from videographer to player. I love Jeff Scott for doing this!

It is a cool story. I think LSers are usually walk-ons to begin with. Any legitimate teeth gnashing over this is kind of ridiculous.

Maybe it was just our Coaches way of saving space vy making the Centers do both jobs. We did however constantly maul the Center/Long Snapper on punts and none of us waited even a nanosecond to do it. This was of course 40 years ago. 🤔

There has actually been an upward trend of college football programs putting a greater emphasis on the position and actively recruiting for it.

Okay, that's good but let me ask the most obvious question - who is HIS back up? Or are we only back to being one deep at the position?

I'd have open tryouts right now for any student who might be able to do this - let the Special Team coach find one or two people and see if we can develop an emergency long snapper for our emergency long snapper.

For the record, it pained me to give you an upvote lol

I don't blame you for being pained. I've been a bit opinionated lately.

Haha happens to all of us.
