Credit hour.  Not much choice in this state.

When my oldest was looking at schools, it was cheaper for him to go to USF as an out of state student than to go in state to Arizona State.  It’s seems like a criminal enterprise, or at least, a monopoly as good as Google’s.

But to get on topic, it seems the salaries are going to have to be cut.  No ill will towards CJS, but that guy hit a nice pay day coming to USF, but, through no fault of his own is not able to perform the primary duties of his role.  Why would we pay 100%?  Because we can?  If there are no games, pay would have to be slashed, wouldn’t it?  Not entirely fair to the coach, but it has to be considered.

Maybe this is what happens when you fire coaches midseason and eat millions of dollars

It’s a layoff-proof industry too, at least it seems.  Other people are losing jobs.

Now, we’re paying almost $1000/credit hour for my son at Arizona State to take classes on the laptop.  Even in the class room, it’s not worth $1000/hour plus fees, books, parking, residence.

It’s a business model to dream of.  And to have all the other money to run sports teams, recruit internationally, travel...

But they have a P5 football team and a basketball team expected to be Top 10.  So it must all be worth it! Anyway, I’m rambling out loud....

We are seeing lay offs this time. Further, the small liberal arts colleges are pretty much done with a few exceptions. I guarantee that your son is paying most of his dollars to administrative aspects that have very little to do with him. These administrative offices are created from political pressures and mandates to help 0.005 of the people who need it. The math and the return on the investment (for the university) is terrible. The university has started to act like a 1950s corporation and are fleecing families while sucking up as much political capital as possible.

Since chuckles is an outstanding citizen with great morals he will pay CJS's salary. He can use the USF and Texas buyout money.

Coaches have been unfireable in recent years so I would have to assume their paydays are bullet proof. Maybe if a Volcano, Tidal wave, and meteor hit on the same day of the game we'd save a little...except for the secret double contracts obviously.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
