The road will destroy us!

I couldn't say it better myself.

From what I see on Rutgers roster, they recruit south florida just as well as USF and UCF, if not better.  I've never been to Jersey, but I would think Florida would be more appealing to someone used to 85 degree weather.  What are we doing wrong?

I'm not sure if we're doing anything 'wrong'.   To this point, a Div. 1-A level athlete who couldn't get a look or didn't want to play for one of the 'Big 3' had to look elsewhere.  If they wanted to go to a BCS team, then Rutgers recruited that area hot and heavy.  Why?  Well, talent from Broward and Dade were top-notch, but also, for those who have visited that area will attest, the prodominent dialect you hear (besides Spanish) is NY/NJ from those who escaped that area.  Those players may still have family up there, as well.

No stats to back that up, but it seems logical.

we need coaches that don't get outrecruited by a school in new jersey

we can't let the talent leave the state

I have faith in this USF team.  I think they can make it happen.

That said, I think this is the year for Rutgers as well.  Big East has a lot of upside  :)
