The South Florida Bulls football team is starting to think that someone in the Big East football offices is playing favorites.

Even though both teams have an open date on October 29th, South Florida was surprised to see that the Big East had postponed the USF - West Virginia football game because of Hurricane Wilma to December 3rd. The Bulls are wondering if the Big East's decision to go with the December date might be a nod to WVU, who would have been without starting quarterback Adam Bednarik for an October matchup.

Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese, who made the final decision to move the game after consulting with USF and WVU officials, said his staff proposed moving the game to tonight, but he didn't think it would have been "a competitively fair situation" for West Virginia. On Thursday, however, the NFL moved Sunday's Kansas City at Miami game to tonight.

"It's too important of a game," Tranghese said. "I want both teams to be on a level playing field."

...

It's kinda hard to argue with USF's point, the game certainly could have been played on several dates between now and October 29th. The Bulls were going to catch the Mountaineers at a good time, with Bednarik out. I don't think the Big East is playing favorites, but I can see where USF is coming from.

With Tranghese's decision, the Bulls play only two games between Sept. 25 and Nov. 5 -- a span of 41 days -- and will go eight weeks between home games. In the meantime, WVU had played seven straight weeks without an open date and will have some extra time to heal, now with two weeks before their next game.

Why don't you quit making excuses, It wouldn't matter if Bednarik is out, did you see how we beat Louisville. Pat White, he is just as good as Adam, we also have 4 good running backs, so it doesn't matter what date we play, It will be total domination

USF should be thanking Tranghese. They have a much better chance if Bednarik plays. Pat White will run all over them. The passing game is terrible..we have no WR's who have come close to catching a football !!

Bednarik Rushing and passing Plays: 130-693-5 TD

White Rushing and passing Plays: 84-676-6 TD

Lets see here. Bednarik has had 46 more plays but only 17 yds more overall and 1 less TD

GIVE ME A BREAK !!!!

Let's Go Mountaineers, regardless of when the game is played. WVU hasn't had an off week yet, so this is great timing.

October 29 would not have been fair to WVU, as theyare scheduled to play UConn just 4 days later on Wed, Nov 2. Friday night should have been explored. Waiting until Dec 3 to decide the conference championship is not good for fans wishing to make bowl travel plans.

I'm wondering if this won't hurt our chances at a bowl invite, should we be in a position for one. The bowls like to get the invites out as early as possible so if the game were being played this week there would be more time at the end for the bowls to check us out & compare to everyone else who is in contention.

Hawaii, bowls won't invite till after that game.  WVU is the Big East's favorite to win the title.  Also, other conferences have their championship games to play.

Usually, when someone says its duck season, they are referring to hunting or throws by a QB.

But, here we have another form of ducking.  Pretty shameless by WVU, considering they could have picked several days out of next week that the game could have been played.  Yes, if they played next sat. they'd not have enough time for the wed. game the next week.  However, what about a weekday game?  Maybe a wed. or thursday night?

No.  it HAD to be over a month later.  The hurricane is just tooooooooo scary.

It's not about USF whining in this case, its just too thinly veiled.  Situations like this REQUIRE you to make fun of the oponent.

If we are 5-5 before the WVU game, then we could be in some trouble, especially if ND doesn't make a BCS game.

Here's how I see the Big East breaking down. WVU, Louisville, and Rutgers will be bowl eligible. Syracuse is done, Cincinnati is close to being done. Pitt is 4-4, but still hase to play at WVU and Louisville, so they should have 6 losses and be done. UConn still has to go to Pitt and WVU and has USF and Louisville at home. That looks like 3 losses there that would give them 6 on the year, thus knocking them out.

Now, to USF. If we can win either at Rutgers or UConn, then I think we will have 6 wins before 12/3. That should at least give us an idea of where we stand. If we happen to be 5-5, then we have to hope that ND is going to a BCS game and that UConn and Pitt aren't eligible.
