The network will pay the Huskies around $500,000 per year to broadcast their home games, which will combine with the Big East’s TV deal to give them $4.5 million in media revenue per year. This total lags behind the approximate total of $7 million the American’s schools will receive.

I'm not sure it's worth $2.5 million to try and go back to some glory BB days.  They could have basically accomplished the same (at no loss in revenues) by beefing up the BB OOC schedules with a few BE teams and other high profile BB schools.

There was once a time we were relevant and people cared then something happened, I can’t quite recall...

Forward propulsion happened.

Uconn will be non existent FB wise in 5 years

They are pretty much non-existent now

Uconn’s last winning season was in 2010 and they have posted a 15/45 record the last 5 seasons (6/30 the last 3)

Outside of a few good seasons under Randy Edsall in his first stint, UConn has always been dismal in football

If they drop back to 1AA, maybe the Big East can reform football (Villanova and GTown play 1AA also)

The BE is a better situation for them basketball wise but Jim Calhoun is long gone.  They will probably be able to get some better players here and there but the BE is a much more difficult conference from top to bottom than the AAC and they weren't exactly dominating the conference here.  As for football, they seem to be raising the white flag.

They have 3 four star recruits in their 2020 class.

I don't think it helped or hurt. There's no case to be made that football success on the field was any kind of significant driver for inclusion back in those rounds of expansion ...

I am well aware that expansion has nothing to do with on the field success but we were talking about popularity and our decline of it happened long before we got relegated to this crap conference. You can’t replace a CJL with a CSH and expect people not to notice and react.

That be a definite no. We were brought into the Big East to replace what the conference lost in football prowess. Since the conference has ZERO football asprirations and is partly the reason why the conference split to begin with, we no longer fit the profile of a full member school for them:

  • All Big East full members are private Catholic institutions with the exception of Butler (private) and UConn
  • We are no longer in their georgraphic footprint
  • We bring nothing to the conference from a basketball perspective

I'm sure C-USA would take us back and we mght even be competitive in most sports there.

why not go all the way

and join the sun belt

The Northeast doesnt give 2 shytes about college football even just a little bit.

Think about it - what is the team anybody really cares about up there?  Uconn, BC, Rutgers , Temple.  I honestly cant think of one.  Maybe big maybe - Syracuse.

Uconn - good riddance.

I think you have to define nonexistent...as of right now, other than 15,000 diehard fans we are kind of nonexistent.

We are a bandwagon city.  Win they will come back.

At least Florida is college football crazy unlike the likes of UCant.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
