The Future of the Big East...

I was sitting in class today and had a crazy thought....

What if all the former Big East powerhouse teams never left the Big East?

Would people instead be talking about how the ACC may soon lose its BCS bid? Maybe, but that's not really my point.

My point is...where is the loyalty to the Big East? Why do these teams feel compelled to cut and run the first chance they get? Let's say those team's stayed. Ok, so we've got VT, Miami, and BC.  Add that to the mix of (normally good) Pitt, UL, and an up and coming USF team. Suddenly, the ACC is looking more like the Sunbelt.

It seems the BE is and always has been considered little more than a gateway to big time BCS football.

....it doesn't have to be that way.

Louisville, despite some tough losses, has really made a name for itself in the past few years. .

Then take USF...up and coming team with potential to be a dominant BE player EVERY YEAR.

We aren't the first team to go from non existence to the big time, and we won't be the last.  There are other hungry teams out there with lots of potential..Southern Miss, Troy, Georgia Southern (hey, who knows!?) They will all be knockin on the BCS door one day.

What should we do? One thing is for sure =  No more running to the ACC! The BE has put alot of faith in us and we should reciprocate.

Bottom line....there ARE enough teams out there with the drive and capability to be serious BCS contenders (we're one of em) and make the Big East a force to be reckonned with!

GO BULLS! GO BIG EAST!

Interested to hear your thoughts...

Ultimately, the conference must beat other ranked BCS OOC teams to gain respect.  That means USF which hasn't to date.  Right now if WVU (or maybe UL) doesn't win the conference, the other BCS conferences will be ready to burn the BE's bridge to the guarannteed BCS Bowl bid.

simply put, without UM, VT, and BC running to the ACC, we wouldn't even be in the Big East!! More specifically, we owe BC thanks for running too because that was the spot that we ultimately got. So, if those teams had stayed, we would be talking about how the BCS is BS and we need a playoff system more than talking about the legitimacy of a specific conference. Can you imagine us still in C-USA? I mean the whole attitude of USF and this message board has dramatically changed since joining the BE, it'd be like an episode of the twilight zone if we were still in C-USA!

usf, with 2 weeks, has too beat a bad  pitt

with usf being located where the are I thought their recruiting would have been a bit better making them the class of the league

we need t seriously upgrade our coaching

it isn't the budget

we can get better coaches than rod smith for the same money
