Boston Celtics guard Tony Allen has been charged with aggravated battery stemming from a fight that escalated into a shooting outside a West Loop diner two months ago.

Allen was released on a $150,000 bond. He will only be allowed to travel for work purposes and was ordered back to court for a preliminary hearing Oct. 26, said Tom Stanton, a spokesman for the state's attorney's office.

Allen's attorney, Michael Zaslavsky, said the player is not considered a suspect in the shooting.

Zaslavsky said Allen has been in jail since Wednesday, when he voluntarily went to a Chicago police station to meet with investigators.

One man was shot in the left arm and left side Aug. 29 when gunfire erupted during an early-morning fight at the White Palace Grill, police said.

Allen was drafted by the Celtics 25th overall in 2004 and started 34 games as a rookie. He averaged 6.4 points and 2.9 rebounds.

Allen, who had a small piece of cartilage removed from his right knee in September, has not played in the preseason.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT HE WILL WEAR A SUIT AND TIE From NOW ON

"They want to sway away from the hip-hop generation," Richardson said

Are there not White people who follow hip-hop?

Is that the best response the players have - play the race card and complain about a generation gap. What a joke they are. Don't they realize what a good gig they have? The NBA is a product and it's up to the commish to market that product to reach the widest audience.

The black players are the racist ones. They want to cling to their racially-identifying garb in an effort to market themselves to a narrow audience. They need to be pushed out of their comfort zone.

clothing stipend - what a joke to suggest millionaires need a clothing allowance. They will end up paying less since they cant wear their bling.

Allen can where whatever clothes he wants at a club... doesn't matter... but when he is going to and from games and media events, he'll be wearing clothes that meet the dress code or he'll be fined and if it continues, he'll be gone.

Players agreed to it smazz... tough chit.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
