Now at $132,000 raised. Great job, USF family!

In a Zoom with Coach Gregory last night, Lelo noted that Athletics isn't pushing hard on donations as they want to see people donate to this fund for now.

Dear USF Alumni and Friends,

We hope you and your loved ones remain healthy and have found new ways to connect as we adjust to our temporary new normal.

USF is continuing to work proactively to protect our Bulls family and curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the broader community. In accordance with Governor DeSantis’ Safer-at-Home order, only USF employees deemed “essential” are reporting to campus, while most other employees are working from home. Remote classes for students have been extended through the summer A, B and C sessions, and faculty and staff have developed creative ways to maintain the highest standards in education and research. President Steven Currall’s decisive actions in early March and Bulls’ quick response have hopefully kept our community safer.

Our world-class USF faculty, staff and students have also been stepping up in a number of ways that should make you even more proud to be a Bull. Researchers at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine came up with a solution to the nationwide shortage of virus testing kits by developing a nasal swab using 3-D printers – in just two weeks! And, the College of Engineering developed a face shield to protect health-care workers with 100 shields provided to Tampa General Hospital for testing and plans for 10,000 more delivered in the next month.

Dozens of students and faculty are volunteering with the Florida Department of Health to track people who may have been exposed to coronavirus. Many are from the College of Public Health, but they hail from a range of disciplines, from education to engineering.

And more than 1,300 of you have contributed more than $260,000 to the USF United Support Fund for students since President Currall created it on March 24. Thank you! The money is going to students who lost jobs or have been otherwise seriously financially affected by COVID-19. Please help, if you can, by donating here. Likewise, food drives for all three USF campuses are stocking free pantries for our students and employees.

Here at USF Advancement, our mission to advance USF with your help remains our focus. The Alumni Association is rescheduling spring events that celebrate the accomplishments of alumni, including the USF Outstanding Young Alumni Awards and the USF Fast 56 Awards for our Bull business leaders. Also, many postponed USF Foundation events will be rescheduled for a time when it is safe to gather. It’s going to be a very busy fall! We’re also finding new ways to recognize students’ achievements, particularly our May graduates. We hope you’ll join us in giving them the accolades they so richly deserve.

Above all, like you, our No. 1 priority is to protect friends and strangers alike by adhering to the guidelines for maintaining physical distance; washing hands to the Bulls Fight Song; and self-isolating if we have any symptoms of illness.

Until we can once again shake hands and give our old friends a hug, we’ll be throwing our Horns Up! – from 6 feet away.

 Stay safe, fellow Bulls!
