USF Advances to Its Seventh Straight AAC Semifinal With 64-52 Win Over Tulane

Sydni Harvey leads USF with a career-high 28 points as they defeat the Green Wave for the 15thconsecutive time.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (March 7, 2020) – The University of South Florida women's basketball team, seeded fourth in the American Athletic Conference Tournament, got a career-high 28 points from Sydni Harvey (Nashville, Tenn.) and 14 points from Elena Tsineke (Thessaloniki, Greece) as the Bulls advanced to their seventh straight AAC semifinal with a 64-50 win over fifth-seeded Tulane on Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The win improved USF to 19-12 on the year, while the Green Wave finish the season at 13-17.

In addition, the victory extended USF's winning streak over Tulane to 15 straight games.

Along with Harvey and Tsineke in double figures in the scoring column, Bethy Mununga (Zellik, Belgium) and Shae Leverett (Rincon, Ga.) grabbed 14 and 11 rebounds, respectively.

The Bulls trailed at the end of the first quarter, 18-15, however came back in the second to outscore the Green Wave, 14-8, in the second period, to take a 29-26 advantage into the locker room at the half.

Tulane got the USF lead down to one point twice in the third quarter, but could not take advantage. The Bulls put distance between themselves and the Green Wave, extending their advantage to double figures, 51-41, for the first time in the contest on a driving layup by Harvey with just under two minutes left in the third.

Tulane did get the lead back to single digits in the fourth, but never posed a threat the rest of the contest.
