The 2001 team faced easier competition. We caught Pitt off guard that year, other than that you cant even compare the two.

No? Lets see if we can beat a similar UConn team now and Memphis then and Cincinnati now are similar too. Lets just see about those games. I have a hunch we will be lucky to be close to 2001.

I think that we were better then, well lets see because we had a good QB, a play making receiver who caught the ball which gave us the ability to score. Then on the other side USF had 2 future NFL players on defense or plainly siad a better defense.

So . . . . . .  

A.) Why can't you compare them and

B.) Whats is possibly better about this team?

I guess you havent notice that Pitt has outrecruited USF in 3 out of the last four years. So by those standards they should be beating us.

Im so tired of people comparing our teams to that 2001 team, NONE of those teams we played that year were ranked. We have faced THREE ranked teams, probably FOUR since WV will be ranked. Two of them Top 10.

That year we played 3 1AA teams and one UConn that was also moving to 1A.

we were close to winning both the NIU game and I believe we had the ball at the end of the memphis game needing a TD and 2 pt conversion....

are you kidding me....we beat 1 decent team in 2001....the team was good against the level of competition. That team this yr would be at best 2-4...may have lost to this yrs UCF team...and been 1-5 at this point.

What an easy question, this years team is much better than the 2001 team.  The level of competition is much improved as previously mentioned.  That Pitt team in 2001 started the season 1-5 until they started to come together as a team.  We played them in week #2. We were also 1-3 on the road that year, something we still struggle with today.  Lets be real here and look ahead not to the past.
