It should be if you cannot beat teams that would have been gimme games under a certain regime, that will remain nameless so as not to upset NEB et al,than you will be termed with cause. Now we are placing bounties on bottom feeders, it’s sad.

Gimme games? Like when Slappy Jimbo lost to a terrible Ville team? Or lost multiple games to an average Uconn team? A few of those Rutgers loses were enjoyable... Bottom feeders? ucf owns our asses right now. Pay them more if we beat them.

Looks like their deals are for three years. Beat ucf and get an extra $10k.

I like the 10K incentive to beat UCF. Wonder if this is common in College Football for coaches to get incentive bonuses for beating rival teams in the regular season?

Like it or not but, even ESPN has been using UCF as the standard of a g5 reaching for p5 lately. So we beat them and we become the new standard. It is what it is. To be the man, you've got to beat the man.

Found this...Boise does the same. 10K for beating BYU, 15K for a win AT BYU. They also give 25K bonuses for wins over P5 teams.

Not related to us in any way, but just read that Cristobal at Oregon got 250K for every win beyond the 7th win of the season, regardless of who it was against. That's quite an incentive, but kind of a low bar for a team that's been to a National Championship not that long ago...

Can’t imagine it really makes much difference either way.  Would CCS beat UCF for 10k or take a buyout for 3 million to go away and sit on his sorry A$$.

It's not really a low bar though, if his base pay is low.  it is just performance based.  He has the 56th highest base pay, aka one of the lowest in P5.

Even if he wins 11 games a year that only gets him just inside the top 40 highest paid coaches.

That's a great deal for Oregon.

  give a fair wage

i expect them to try to win every game

inventive clauses arent needed

the schools do not know how to negotiate(see dumb buyout clauses)(also see 42 million contract given to ed orgeron)

the agents win all the negotiations

I've been saying this for a long time. All coaches contracts should be performance based.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
