TAMPA - -- University of South Florida junior QB Pat Julmiste believes overexcitement played a big role in his disappointing performance in the Bulls' 27-7 loss at Miami.

With USF off last week, Julmiste is eager to get back on the field and prove his Orange Bowl outing (8-for-25 for 47 yards, 1 TD, 3 interceptions) was a slight speed bump on the Bulls' road to a bowl game.

"The first series at Miami, my coach told me he saw me jumping around too excited," Julmiste said. "I have to be poised and calm and not the one excited out there. I'll leave that to Andre [Hall]and the O-linemen."

Julmiste is confident his emotions will be in check Saturday when USF visits Pittsburgh.

"I just have to focus on the play at hand and when that play's over -- good or bad -- focus on the next," he said. "I just think about getting first downs and keeping the chains moving."

CAPTAINS NAMED: Game captains this week are DE Tim Jones, LB Stephen Nicholas, RB Hall and C John Miller.

STILL HAUNTS HIM: Bulls sophomore WR Amarri Jackson's drop of a pass early against Miami was a harbinger of things to come in the game.

Coming off a big offensive showing the week before against Louisville, when he ran for two TDs and threw for another, Jackson admits he was thinking end zone instead of focusing on the catch.

"I really don't make excuses for dropped balls. You just have to live with it," he said. "But I saw a lot of real estate and really thought it was going to be a touchdown, but I left the ball behind."

Jackson, who finished the Miami game with two catches for 7 yards, says he's looking forward to redeeming himself against Pitt.

USF's quarterback problem is going to cost this team a bowl game.

I guess that means he won't cry after he loses the game anymore. He certainly isn't in control of his emotions or anything else on the field.

What? Did he pee his pants again? Just another line of excuses! Well pal, excuses don't win games!

And to those who will criticise me in saying these are just kids and they will make mistakes. yada yada yada, Say that to Texas, Alabama, USC etc. See what they say! I'll tell you this, they would just laugh!
