There is also a southeastern about 15 mins from Florida southern. they are no where near the level as the rest but they are a pretty decent NAIA team. FWIW

Their claim to fame being Dee Gordon

I grew up in Lakeland where the campus is and used to go see the Mocs (Moccasins) play basketball. Their campus actually has the biggest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and is on a lake.

Dad was a UT grad, played basketball there and there was a time when we would religiously go to Spartan bb games, even traveling to Lakeland for the FSC games. Was a huge Rivalry and remember classifying Mocs fans as dickweeds in the vein of Gator fans ....

I know Right, its crazy!

Isn't Florida Southern even a little bit further North than USF.  I believe Lakeland's latitude is slightly north of Tampa.

the college is actually slightly south of USF (southeast)

I believe Michigan has a **** ton of directionals too. I still like USF as a name over Temple Terrace University
