How do we know this coaching staff is going to be good? Not saying they aren’t but CJS has never been a head coach. I know we are hopeful but it is still very much unknown.

Cincy is bringing in a great class this year and a 4 star QB. I think they are the team to beat next year now that Norvell has moved on. But I don’t anticipate Fickel sticking around for too much longer with the success they have had the past 2 years. He will get the call up soon enough. Realistically USF is at least 2 years out from seriously competing for the conference. The cupboard is so bare right now.

Only coaching he has had as a HC was for a HS team.  But he took a first year team to the playoffs...that is actually quite amazing and they haven't been back since he left.

But yeah as a HC in college it is all unknown.

Every single coaching hire is a risk.

Well, our HC has won 2 National Championships as a coordinator in the past half decade, and may be coming here with a third. He helped build a culture of winning at Clemson with Dabo from the start. And our two new coordinators just won a Conference Championship this month.

What was the last coaching staff we had with this pedigree of success?

I think too many people put too much stock in whether a coach has specifically been a Head Coach before, rather than looking at their actual experience. Of course not every coordinator should be an HC, but it would be foolish to discount any coordinator for an HC gig because they hadn't been an HC before.

I’m not discounting him. I’m merely saying we don’t know. CCS was a part of championships as a coordinator too. People need to be optimistic and I am too. If you go back to prior threads people said CSH was an upgrade from CJL and CCS was an upgrade from CWT. Now in The defense of all those it would be extremely difficult for CJS to NOT be an upgrade. I just want to see what he does for us before I proclaim him the savior of USF Football.

Having stopped by the dispensary and bought myself an OZ of weed for Christmas on Monday, I would like to make my high prediction as well. This team wins 4 games next year.

I'm used to it, I've been cheering on the Bulls since 1997.

6 and 6, bowl eligible is a completely reasonable expectation.  Hell, we should have been 6-6 this year if we could have scored once in a while.  With next years schedule, I will be expecting at least 6-6 even with the talent we have.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
