For those who were calling for Leavitt’s return because of what he accomplished, this should look familiar. I don’t think you could look at any of his staffs and find much big time experience - aside from Wally Burnham and Carl Franks - especially as a head coach. He did just fine with guys like Rick Kravitz, Mike Canales, Greg Frey, etc.

Great point. I think having a former HC (e.g. Franks) would give Scott someone objective to mentor him and point things out he may be missing. As the HC Scott is going to look at things through a different lens and have learn to give some control to his coaches and that can be tough for a first time HC to do. Having an experienced former HC can help with that part of Scott's development.

He'll have his dad

Dabo will probably still be on his Contacts list on his phone.

Fresh start with new coaches he can mold into his way of thinking. not some old timer who is set in his ways. He has been training his entire life to be a head coach and has learned from the best From bowden all the way to Dabo. He doesn't need a mentor.  I like it.

I get Jeff Scott not wanting to hire a bunch of older guys with HC experience.

If you are in his shoes. 38 years old. First time Head Coach at this level....do you really want a bunch of older former head coaches around? I could see them undermining you the 1st minute they don't agree with one of your decisions.

I am sure there will be a learning curve.

After the last staff I would gladly trade experience for a young energetic group of up and comers.   We need to get that USF swagger and energy back after CCS killed it...

I would think you balance it a bit. Some young guys and some guys who have faced some of the challanges you are about to face.

Well the DC and OC have experience at those positions so that is good and not learning on the job the position.

I mean it’s a TE coach...we don’t really use those guys anyway.
