If it is Scott, do we get him now or does he finish the playoff run?

9-3 with a true freshman QB and a top 10 offense where your 3 losses are by a combined 7 points is underperforming?

A nudge away from 12-0. 9-3 is very respectable, and 3 losses on the road by a combined 7 points makes it an even better 9-3.

There's a real possibility too that Milton attempts to make a come back and because of what he's done for that program, they give him a shot. I simply can't see him coming back and being the same player. Juggling between him and the freshman there could cause some hiccups next year for c..

This also doesn't need to be said as I'm sure most will agree. I don't think Strong is a bad dude but man I don't care who the next coach is--I want them to have some fire, not only for every opponent, but especially for that school to the east. You win the presser if you come in and the expectation is to beat them every year. Have that fire and hatred.

how has heupel underperformed??

he is 21-4 at UCF.

They went 9-3 this year with a true freshman QB.

Their 3 losses were by a total of 7 points.

they had a top 10 offense

that's underperforming??

typo, should have said hasn't.  wasn't the most important part of the post though anyway .... take a chill pill

He has  a TRUE FRESHMAN starting at QB.

So performance is not W/L?  Gotcha.  Margin of loss.  Be sure to let me know how they do next year.

New member here and while I've visited and read the board for a long time, and have seen what I call "TheBullspen Grumpy Old Men",  I'm still shocked at some of the negativity around Jeff Scott. If you look around the Twitterverse and fansites, this guy is at the onset, a great hire. Clemson insiders and fans alike are lauding this hire for us if it is indeed what unfolds.

For everyone pining for Leavitt, stop and go get some help. You all sound like jilted lovers who just can't seem to get over that first love. As a kid, going to USF games, I was in awe of The Jim and how he built this program. His passion on the sidelines is what made me fall in love with USF Football and later attend and graduate from USF. As much as we'd all like to dream of this triumphant return and applaud his 8-9 win seasons, it wasn't going to happen. That ship has sailed and the sooner we as fanbase move on, the better.

My point is, lets get behind the new leader. All we can do as fans is show the new HC that we're ready to support.

And for anyone trashing the fact that Scott has never been a HC, so what?! A lot of coaches who came into programs and found abundant success had never been HC's before. It's a silly way of measuring what you think will be his future success. The guy is coming from a 1st class program, mentored by a FL football family and groomed under Dabo, recruits FL, AND is an offensive-minded coach. LOL, the guy literally checks all the boxes.

Also of note, you know this guy wants to make a mark and I'd be willing to bet he won't be outworked when it comes to shmoozing donors and injecting life into this program we all love.

Thanks for having me. Go Bulls!

First, Welcome Aboard. So how does something so logical, optimistic come out of Washington DC..?  Logic should dictate that an assoc OC coming out of a championship level program might possess a vast amount of experience/talent. He is a rising talent with good connections. A football family with a direct connection to USF. Sounds pretty good.

The vast majority of posters supporting CJL are simply professing that he's the best hire at this time in their opinion - not that we'll hate or not "get behind" any other coach.  They are all still following the team and if they haven't gotten behind all the new coaches by now, they wouldn't still be here.

As far as the "jilted lovers" comparison, remember that a jilted lover is someone who was dumped.  We weren't dumped by CJL.  Imagine your parents telling your girlfriend to go away and you weren't allowed to date her anymore.  And over the next nine years, the three gals they've since set you up with have turned out to either be total losers, left you for a better guy, and all wasted a lot of your money.  Would you not at least be a little skeptical of their judgment?

But I am grumpy at times.  And yes, mid-50's is probably old to you, so I'll wear that one.

Then imagine your parents try and set you up with a smoking hot gal half your age...

As for donors... I hope you're right, but, I would be hard pressed to open my checkbook as a big time donor when this guy tells me that "we're building something here" and that thing we're building is a ladder for him to climb off this ship to a bigger one.

Hopefully the big time donors still understand they're opening their checkbook not for a coach to build something here, but for USF to continue to try and build something here .... Without that thought process, we'll sink lower and lower in the conference in terms of Contributions.

The reaction by Clemson fans to losing Jeff Scott has me more excited for his arrival. I just hope and pray the promise that he brings translates into leadership and a good on-field product.
