We HAVE to build an internal pipeline of coaches to have some stability.  A HC ready to develop his replacement when he retires and moves into admin.  Hire from within and have continuity in a program.  A rental coach likely raids the staff when he leaves and we start over.  This is where I see the problem.  I know, others chime in "If he leaves us he left us better than he found us".  Garbage.  Leaves us at another restart.  

That said, I expect USF will go the way it has gone in the past and we'll have the best available rental coach when it is all said and done.

Interesting point of view, but developing and retaining solid coaching talent was never Leavitt’s strength. I agree with others that his success would entirely depend on his staff, especially OC. I know you, like many of us, lived through lots of uninspiring offenses under CJL.

Do you really think MK will announce anything until it's all finish? That thought process is foolish due to the fact he said he wouldn't until it is confirmed in the press conference.

I think it depends on the Board at this point. Former players and fans have been pretty vocal in support of CJL and he and Kelly have a very good relationship. If the board can see past slap gate then I think CJL returns. If not I think we are unfortunately out of the running for the top tier of Coordinators as there are other jobs that will take less work to get to a massive pay day, and even a few P5 Paydays to be had at lower level teams. If not CJL I fear we end up with a coach that does not excite the fan base, whom I’ll support but not much longer than the game in Provo.
