That explains the aggressive shift in scheduling philosophy and will hopefully explain putting his neck on the line in hiring Leavitt in order to save this PROGRAM.

🙏  And saving this PROGRAM is the first priority.

I would probably like OBC if Leavitt were ruled out.

I'd welcome just about anything instead of another rental head coach.  I think that model is broken and it would be intellectually lazy to rely on it.

Have to say I agree with this. Leavitt, Spurrier, or Taggart would be better IMHO. Otherwise, it’s an endless cycle. We should just decline to play that game.

I'm getting so sick and tired of all the clueless statements about Jim and reaching a plateau.   Back in the day I felt the same.  The man spoiled us with what he did.   We had no reason to be hanging with UL,WV and even Slutgers at the time,. They had so much more resources then we could even dream of.   Now Jim will be on an even (or above) playing field once the facility gets built.  He will dominate this conference and beat some of the big boys we play.

So broken that UCF completed two undefeated regular seasons following it.

Yeah, but Jim Leavitt beat Auburn in 2007.

Which is probably more impressive than just about every victory that has followed.

What would be a home run hire?  Another rental coach?  The lesser of the Clemson twins?  Some dude from FCS?

I've never seen our fanbase more fired up than it is now with the potential of hiring Leavitt. The best thing to do is to ignore the haters crowd and right our wrong from the past. Jim Leavitt never deserved this. We know how great CJL is as a coach and a person. It's been 10 years since the incident and coaches have done much worse things and still gotten hired. I think it'll be a giant mistake if we let a false narrative perpetuated by a screaming minority dictate how we run our football team. It's time to stop being the nice guy and start winning.

If by fan base you mean 5 guys on the pen and 4 former players😁

How so?  They had one undefeated season with Frost - the first such P5 asst hire after a long tenure from Fatboy O'Leary.  Frost also gets them their National Championship.

Frost leaves, they hire Heupel.  Heupel first year they win the G5 conference.  His second year they lost more games then they had in the previous two seasons. No conf chmp. Not even a division winner.

The trend is down.

The model to be successful has to work through a few cycles of re-hiring rental head coaches....so far it is not looking good for the stepping stone model or UCF.

Sure, they're better than us, so that can make them feel so much more successful to Bulls fans...when in fact Heupel will begin to feel pressure next season.

Love your disingenuous straw man arguments.  :roflmao:

UConn 2005 and Rutgers 2007 were big games ... jus sayin

We all know what happens in the Rutgers game so I’m not gonna hold that BS game against that USF team. The UCONN Voodoo 5 play was a gutsy call that may not have even happened if not for that false start by our OL on the goal line. We had big wins for both those years that the nation took notice of USF. When was the last Top 25 win that USF has had?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
