There really is no other option than the spread for USF. However, I suppose some type of hybrid  would work too. Just because an OC has run the pro set at one school does not mean he is not open to the spread here. As we have always said on this board the best coaches are those who adjust to the talent on the team

Coaches that adapt are few and far between most seem to prefer losing with their system over adapting to anything else

I agree but this needs to be an interview question from MK

I don't follow college football enough to know.  The Clemson guys sound pretty good but if they are running pro style stuff not sure. Was surprised to see MK at men's BB last night.  Thought he'd be working the phones all night. He was pleasant as usual.

I was obviously joking with the Skippy dig, but you said that Leavitt wouldn't be your first choice, so I thought that you had someone in mind. At this point, I would welcome Leavitt or one of the talented coordinators that have been mentioned. I am not sold on Taggart having the chops to win in even the AAC without a transcendent QB like Flowers at the helm. I would stay away from Kiffin or Taggart at this point. Of course, if Taggart were to come back and coach for $500,000 per year in a deal similar to what we got with CCS, that would make me reevaluate that possibility.

it's why the spread offense even came to be. top programs get all the best linemen. lower level programs adapted by getting smaller more athletic linemen who could zone block. pro-style offenses are complex and will take time to develop and recruit. Taggart learned the hard way

This times 1000! We need a HC who can coach up athleticism and raw talent. CJL did just that. CWT ultimately got there as well towards the end. Remember, no one else wanted Flowers as a QB, but CWT gave him his shot. Leavitt used to do that sort of thing all of the time.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
