There was no sense of urgency. The offense meandered up to the line rather than have any sense of urgency to run a play. Not calling time outs was just the most glaring. Maybe Strong thought it was the end of the third quarter. Not the first time Strong/Bell did this. We had the ball with about a minute and a half or so at the end of the first half of one of our earlier games and we refused to use a time and we operated the offense like we were out for a Sunday stroll. But really does it mater? Do those time outs get us better line protection? Really, I could care less if he used them or not we weren’t going to win any way. loser mentality

Probably not. In my mind, even if there's an infinitesimal chance of winning I call those timeouts. And beyond that, there's also the message it sends, the attitude behind it, and the feeling that your coach is willing to do anything to try to win (and just maybe the rest of the team will follow suit). Futile, in terms of making a huge difference on the scoreboard? Maybe, but I'd like to see our team go down swinging. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And none of this covers for lack of talent or scheme, of course. But, if you don't have as much of that as you'd like, at least act like you're trying. Yes, it matters to me that he didn't call those timeouts. agree. true competitors never give up. the message it sends is terrible. "why bother trying, we're going to lose anyway." How I feel about this coach and what he has done to the program has nothing to do with the mindset of the players. the fact that he ever thinks it's acceptable to think it's ok to quit during a game is a huge problem. you can see it when we get down a score. the energy just goes out of the team. we have quit mentally plenty of times during games and that comes from the head coach and his loser mentality.
