So right. Third downs have been killers. Most of the time the conversions seem to be in the middle of the field over our LBs head and in front of the DBs. LBs have to drop back more in my opinion.

Isn't that supposed to be the hardest part of the field to hit? I wonder if the defense is too worried about getting burnt over the top-or perhaps the LBs are too close in.

It’s a great question. I saw Macon playing way too close on Saturday for two of those third down conversions. Of course the smart WRs know where to look and sit in the soft part of the zone too. Navy has an excellent QB. Probably the best passer they have had in years and don’t be fooled they will throw it. Another issue is the HB pass...it could be the kill shot if the DBs are not ready.

that last drive where BYU converted the 3rd and 9...that looked exactly like the Wisconsin game 3rd down conversion on the opening drive...Same thing happened at least once in the Tech game...thats a reoccurring problem and we give that up to inexperienced QBs  right when they need a bail out to keep a drive going

It’s a trade off. Your LBs can’t rack up the sacks and TFLs if they’re dropping back into coverage. I liked how aggressive they were on Saturday. IMO, the secondary needs to tighten up, jam guys at the line and buy more time for the pass rush.

If you go into press coverage and don't get pressure, you going to get beat deep.

Not if the pass rush get there.

We ply 10 yards off the ball and still get beat deep.

I think that's the key portion. Of course if you get pressure np problem. But if you don't... you lose.

Only problem the past rush is very inconsistent. They finally stopped blitzing every down which helped a lot in the past two games.

I would like 2 see more man coverage on 3rd down. They seem 2 get lost when they play zone on 3rd down.
