We will win the game for the following reasons:

Kerwin Bell will run the ball and take shots down the field after they load the box. We will have to run the ball to shorten the game and rest the D.

Our linebackers are playing better. Navy doesn't have team speed. Reaves, Slade and Livingston are doing a decent job up front. Look for Jones to Flash.

Studstill is good in the box...even Hampton is sticking his head in there. Roberts will have to play more discipline and not get sucked in and they go over the top. Look for Davis to increase his PT in this one.

Mims and Bellamy will also provide good minutes, but they will have to be in with Macon and/or Grier.

I'm going out and calling it a Usf win. 28-20.

How will we combat the fact that Navy is throwing the ball 62% more than last year (they will now throw on first down) when we are stacked in the box to stop the run?

Hopefully defenders will turn around toward the ball before swatting the receiver for the first time ever.

Make them one dimensional... if we can shut down the run, then we can force them to throw and I think our front seven can get to the qb quick.

Their defense seems better than last year, we know they're going to control the ball and the clock and try to grind our defense down.

We will need some solid sustained drives to give the defense a rest and give them less time to run their playbook.

Even with them throwing more, if USF can actually come out swinging hard and put some points on the board, Navy playing from behind is their weakness, they will stick to their playbook but if we could somehow muster up a more than 7 point lead and maintain it into the 4th, they'll start running out of time to execute their 30 play, 8-10 minute offensive drives.

Got to somehow control the clock. Three and outs will end us very quickly.

The key is to win defensively on 1st and 2nd down and get them in 3rd and long, just like it is every year. We also have to not extend drives with penalties or give them extra possessions by turning the ball over. We have to play good clean football for 4 quarters because Navy will no doubt do that.

The less we let them shorten the game and the more more possessions we have to get the ball in our superior athlete's hands the better. Option teams thrive when they take away your margin for error by staying on schedule and controlling the time of possession. If we can limit that and play a clean game we have a very good shot to win this game.
