“Though he had no catches Saturday, fifth-year senior tight end Mitch Wilcox remained a critical cog up front, helping the run game collect 313 yards. “Mitch blocked very well today,” quarterback Jordan McCloud said. “We were actually talking at the end of the game, how he said he felt like a ping-pong ball in there, he was just getting hit around with the O-line being real physical today.”’

I took this excerpt from Joey’s write up to pose this question. Do we keep Mitchell as a blocking TE for the remainder of the year and try not making him a star of the offense? From the sounds of it, he made a big difference. We need a ground game going forward.

Jacob Mathis is having a very good year at TE and has earned the right to switch off with Wilcox. We certainly don’t lose any quality when Mathis is playing.

Mathis is good. Certainly deserves to get the playing time.

It was interesting to see that with all the talk about TE being an important part of this offense in preseason that the position was only targeted 3 times all game.

I was also a bit surprised that the pre-season All American candidate at TE comes off the field every 3rd down.

To further the point, do we keep two TE ‘s one to block and one to escape for the pass? Definitely different with a solid blocking scheme this past Saturday.

This will be up to KB. You got a small glimpse of how it can become heading into next season.

I like that idea. The more bodies on the line the better.

As a spectator I don't see this as a collaborative process.

That went over my head. Not sure what you mean?
