4th place likely puts us on the bubble. The non-conference schedule lacks marquee names but is sneaky tough.

FSU, Utah State, and Wofford are all tournament teams

Unfortunately I don't think we have Gregory for long. Enjoy him while we can.

However, to the contrary. Basketball seems to be a different animal. Coaches at a lot of universities have been there for years many enjoying a lot of success. They don't seem to jump around as much( eg Cincinnati) as football coaches. Maybe because it's easier to get create a program even at a small school( eg Gonzaga) where your competitive with the big schools. Sure, MONEY is the great motivator for a coach so is EGO wanting to coach that storied program to an NCAA championship. BUT some coaches seem content to stay and build. Question?  which one is CBG ??  Recruiting- football your sporting 100 players on your team basketball maybe 20-25. Easier to recruit top tier from hundreds of hundreds players. to find that 8-10 that are your core team. CBG seems like a standup dude and a very good coach maybe he enjoys the area and wants to build at USF?? If he produces I hope MK gets him the money he needs to feel like he can stay. Maybe he will build in bball what has been so elusive for us in football...

Basketball you can win the national championship from any school. Win your conference, get in the tourney, win. Unlike football which has been fixed so that only a very few teams will ever be allowed to be considered to win the national championship. The P5 revenue disparity with the G5 matters less with basketball than with flagship football.

True True. The CFP is rigged and wears blinders. They prob call Saban before they make any decisions...Yep, bball can get to that Natl Champ goal much easier, if ever for football at G5.

If there was ever a break off I would hope the G5 universities would tell the P5 to eat **** and no longer schedule basketball games against them. Probably would not happen as they are mice looking for their crumb of cheese.

Sadly the P5 needs them to sell tickets.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
