remember how bad the o-line was in Taggart's first 2 years? and then they miraculously got better when we ran the GCO. I think the scheme has a lot to do with their poor play. we have never been ( and likely won't ever be) the type of program that has an o-line that can bulldoze our competition or give a QB all day for long developing routes to come open.

That was my hope, that the system change with Bell coming in would help with the Oline issues...hopefully Bell can adjust...

Chuck has been watching my posts here in the pen. He has decided to play Davis at Safety, Hopple at rt and Bashard at LT and bring Jennings to RG.  Evans will get some time in Hampton's spot. Well at least he heard me, albeit 2 games too late.

Any word on changing WR's?

Even with Matt Grothe our best offensive plays looked like busted plays where he didn't have much protection. Highlights of 2006 PItt Game.

However, you all are forgetting one thing. If we can't at least run the ball "some" no type of QB is going to help. Right now our passing game sucks because the opponent knows we can't run. Even quick passes to the outside have zero chance. Thus, the real problem is that our O line is not able to run block first and foremost.

Why do you think the players are the problem and not the putrid coaching?

The coaches are the ones making millions of dollars per year.

If it is players it is on the coaches because they must suck at recruiting. If it is scheme it is on the coaches because they suck at scheming.

After going down by 4 TDs and no points on our side, I gave up on thinking we'd figure it out. Similar to Taggart's first year, where things just inexplicably don't click, so I'm hoping it's all just some team storming and that they'll figure out the offense, their assignments, each other, etc...you know, like what they should have already had behind them but don't yet.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
