This is a **** good point

the GCO is nothing more than an option offense that throws more often. it is much easier to block in an option offense.

I really hope our next hire is based on what type of offense they run and that it is an offense similar to GCO.

interesting that so many teams in AAC started copying it including houston, UCF, etc.

agree. the issue isn't the line but the offense that we are running. we didn't have a dominant line when we ran the GCO. we ran pro-style under Tags first 2 years and the line didn't work. we went to GCO and magically we became a top offense with a "great" line. this is a pro-style offense. drop back passing with runs between the tackles. we have seen this before and it doesn't work. makes the o-line look awful. here is an article on the GCO and how many teams started to copy it. The QB sets everything up with RPOs. essentially an option offense where he reads the d-ends and either gives up the middle to RB or runs on the edge. this brings safeties up and opens up deep balls as well as getting the LBs out of position. There is a reason why teams run option offenses like Army and Navy. It's because you don't need huge o-linemen to run it successfully. we need an innovative young mind to put an offense like this in place.

I can't argue this, but it's weird that Bell could put together a competent line for a Pro Style offense at Valdosta State, but it's hopeless here. Maybe we should send a memo to any potential Head Coaches that reads something like: "We don't pass block for Pro style offenses here at the University of South Florida. Matter of fact, we don't run block either. Don't bother trying to teach that here"

Taggart did at WKU as well. Playing lesser competition maybe?

it is more difficult to play as a pro-style lineman. it's a lot of the reason why you see more spread in college as well as option. the reason these offenses even came about was because the lower schools couldn't get the really good players including o-line.

It was still D2 Offensive Linemen vs. D2 Defenses. Whatever the case though, you're right, the Pro Style  thing hasn't done well here.
