My first calls would be to Tony Elliot and Jeff Scott to see if they had interest on moving on from Clemson.  After that probably Jason Candle, David Yost, and maybe Kendal Briles if his offense is productive all year.

The young dynamic offensive coordinator route certainly gets my vote.....seems to be working for alot of schools similiar to us....ucf, memphis, smu, hell even tulane.

I think Kelly knows this and has something up his sleeve.  His hands were tied this off season.  I think he expected more from KB at this point.....he may end up being very good but not likely to be here.

1. Mike Yurcich: (QB coach Ohio St) #3 scoring offense in 2019 so far. OC for Ok St 13' to 18' where they finished 17th, 4th, and 13th from 2016 to 2018 under his guidance. Ohio boy but can find what he needs recruiting Florida

That's a good pick. Big fan of that one.

How about we just steal UCF's OC, Jeff Lebby. It hurts them, and helps us at the same time!

Maybe get this thread closer to on track. Coaching candidates I would like to replace CCS when he is fired.

2. Jason Candle: (HC of Toledo) another Ohio boy who is 31-14 at crappy Toledo with a conf title and offenses that ranked 19th, 16th, and 9th in scoring from 2016 to 2018. He is only 42 as well. Young and has something to prove

3. Ricky Rahne: (OC for Pedo St) No Florida guys on my shortlist but he has moved up the ranks in Happy Valley has helped orchestrate top 25 scoring offense in 3 of the past 4 years, developed Trace McSorley and is rocking the #5 offense in 19'. He too is young (39) but played QB at Cornell.

Nothing special about my opinion, but some young offensive minded coaches with energy and something to prove and no golden parachutes from blue-bloods are very appealing to me. I have no problem if we became a stepping stone to a bigger paying job for some of these coaches as long as they win here. That is so much better than being a place where mediocre coaches go to die. (only Strong fits that description at this time).

I like this.

plenty of young energetic offensive minds out there looking for a chance to prove themselves.

I wanted us to hire Jeff Scott when Taggart left. he interviewed with south alabama in the past so he isn't out of reach. Elliot would be a good choice as well. I think he interviewed at UCF.

I don’t have a problem being a stepping stone program.

It hasn’t hurt UCF’s success.

Just no rethreads, we need a young offensive mind that kids can relate to.

Jeff Scott makes $1 mil right now. He will cost $2.5 to hire. Paying off Charlie in $1 mil it $1.5 mil increments makes him unlikely. So now we are paying a coach $3.5 mil a year...ain’t gonna happen. You will need a cheap assistant or someone like Willie who will coach for $1.5 mil per year. This buyout is a killer and might keep Charlie here for one more year if he gets to four wins.

Unlike Bama, clemson Assistants don't leave easy. He has turned down offers for more money and better programs.

jeff scott interviewed at south alabama. he would not cost $2.5M to hire. he understands that he needs to prove himself as a HC if he wants a big boy job.

your thinking is exactly why we are in such a terrible position. you must be one heck of a negotiator.

no actually he hasn't. he interviewed for south alabama recently, he didn't even get offered.
