Reach into the IPF savings and can him. No choice, he absolutely has to go.

And our fan base needs to grow and donate more.

We gotsta hope Kelly has somebody in mind to repolace him.

Wow so Harlan killed USF?  Not a bad one for the resume.

He wants to teach our student athletes about how to live a great life? The  only thing he's teaching right now is that incompetence is rewarded by becoming a millionaire for doing nothing and having zero integrity by doing the right thing and resigning.

I bet if he were to resign, all of the players on our team who are receiving scholarships, but not really contributing, will quit and give back their money, too. It will be a revolution!

That would be illegal. The money the donors gave are contractual to the IPF.

If that’s what it took to hire Strong, it wasn’t worth it. We should have passed and hired someone else. Signing us up for a $5 million dollar buyout is negligent. No wonder Harlan moved on, he knew he screwed USF with this contract. If I was Harlan’s new employer I’d be asking him questions about this.

Coaching contracts should have a poor poor performance clause, like if you lose 8 in a row you don’t get your full buyout.

Unfortunately we are USF and need to hire cheap coordinators. Please no more head coaches making lateral or backwards career moves.

Hahahaha...Every major coach at Utah has the same language in their contracts, not to mention Harlan AND his employer.

Exactly, it’s dumb, it’s pays off almost never for the ones paying the checks and pays off always for the one getting the payout. Want out of your contract no problem that will cost you 10%. We want you gone? No problem here is every penny you would have made if you had actually had any success. It’s dumb there isn’t any argument to be made to the contrary.

Agree...there should be stipulations that say if you get on a 9 game losing streak vs fbs teams you get atleast just 90% of buyout.  Or after year three if you dont go .500 the buyout drops.

Especially since he failed huge at Texas.

Something should have some tie to preference or if you want to have buyout clauses they should be in some way equitable to each other.

Usf has no choice but do a buyout....program will be dead next year if Strong is still the coach and we finish with a 3 or so win this season. Will just have to pay it off over time like Holtz.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
