He is essentially just delaying a possible NFL career by a year. Why not play this year out, and test the draft waters in the offseason? Everyone knows he is a stud. Makes no sense to me.

Why would he redshirt this year and not even transfer anywhere? Did that loss to Tulane get in his head.

He is going to let another QB maybe take his starting spot next year?

Probably a smart idea as it gives him more time to learn Marquel Blackwell’s high power offense.

very weird, he's their greatest asset and he's gonna sit by and let someone else start? I'm sure there's something we don't understand but if it's just straight up a personal decision and this is the future of CFB, just go ahead & call it the minors and detach from schools.

If I’m the coach I pull his scholarship. He holds up a scholarship and refuses to step onto the field? I’d bench him at practice too, why waste reps on him?

If a kid comes to the coach and says “No sir, I’m not going to play.” when he is on scholarship it should be revoked.

This also affects the teams win-losses, and the coaches own record and career. Boot him to the transfer portal.

No way these kids play another snap at Houston, it just makes no sense. They'll be somewhere else by January

Shady AF... Hope it backfired for them regardless if they go or stay.

So both D'Eriq King, AND WR Keith Corbin are sitting the rest of the year for a redshirt, and apparently Holgorsen was a part of the decision. Seems he managed to convince them, so that he would have them an additional year. Still, what a strange scenario. I'm surprised they would even agree to such a thing, especially with the risk of simply getting replaced as starter. If the backup isn't even in contention after playing the rest of the season, why even stay?
