I was impressed with Joiner's decisiveness and quickness through the holes.

Yea he was hitting what little holes he had fast. Get him some decent blocking and him and Ford going to make a good running game.

I also noticed our receivers need to work on blocking so they can help plays go further.

This has always been my point of contention.  The receivers get NO separation on any routes and don't block anybody with any enthusiasm.  They only hope to outrun the opponent.

The receivers have been a major disappointment the past few years.  Doesn't seem like a team effort by them -- you can see it on bubble screens and crossing routes.

Think we will start seeing more production in the next few games.

You mean this season?

Last year we rushed for over 2500 yards and received for over 3100 yards.

The previous years we had the best blocking group of receivers in our history and maybe even in the country

2016 we had MVS, Adams said McCants out there blocking.

I would have let this go if you said last couple of years, but few implies more than 2 years and that just is not true.

Rushing started to die last year when we played good opponents.

It’s because Taggart left.

Taggart has to be given credit for devising a very successful rushing attack and the team, the whole team, blocked like mad men. The blocking is what made the offense so good.

Rushing declined last year because Gilbert’s predictable play calling offered the defense an advantage. They simply loaded the box.

Bells offense seems to be a lot less predictable because the play changes based on the defense.

Man I didn't know we were so evenly matched with SMU... I thought they still sucked. I'm worried now that I'm looking at the lines.

Oh I agree with you but Bell is still not getting any open lanes.  Other Ford running the ball we have had no success. Its the same Oline as last year so I don't get it.
