Truth is, best thing for Charlie was to go with a freshman, always a great coaching move.

But, why wasn't this McCloud prowess discovered in Spring or Fall ball?

Regardless, I'm happy for the win and for McCloud to do some good things.  We have a moderately easy stretch ahead of us before the real stuff starts to come down....

Not to a coach that knows the game.  In 11 years of coaching basketball I never mistook a practice player for a game player.  Charlie should be good at it by now, too.

McCloud should have started on the road vs GT or at the very least put in at the start of the second half.

Maybe because he was a senior incumbent and we were going against 2 P5 teams, the first was going to be considerably more physical than us, the second BB beat last year.   You give the senior incumbent some rope and see what he does with it.  Then make the move to the freshman against the cream puff FCS team to gain confidence and get ready for the conference schedule

I thought Levander ‘Bird’ Williams was going to be the starter at QB.

That's what happened.

Blake had to be on the sidelines saying "I can beat these guys".

BUT, the things that get in the way with Blake were discussed last year.  They didn't go away.

Things get tougher in a few weeks.  I think we'll see how that gets managed.  My guess, we take the losses with the freshman, and hope the "future" buys time in the present.  Feels like some sort of deja vu all over again.

Good thing you're John Wooden of the youth basketball league. It's a common place for kids to win jobs after real bullets start flying. How long did it take Saban to see that Tua was the obvious starter? I guess you're better at eval than him?
