I'm not going to go wishy washy and say it's kinda sorta NOT a big game.  It certainly is not a big game.  I refuse the narrative that USF has even a kinda sorta big game against a MEAC team.  Again, I am certainly guilty of hanging on to what we once were, and am not in favor of helping others re-inforce our rung at the bottom of the ladder as a natural destination.

And it's only 94 degrees this morning.

Wins over Wisconsin, Ga. Tech?  Important.

This is a freaking gimme.

And if we lose this "gimme"?

USF-SC State is a game that nobody outside the two team's fan bases care about, but this is a huge game for Charlie imo. We had a chance to pull in some casual fans in week one, and the stadium was half empty by halftime. What does a loss here do? Who's going to want to pay to watch a team that can't beat SC State outside of the few thousand hardcore fans? Attendance/atmosphere would be pathetic for SMU and beyond. Kelly seems willing to be patient with CCS, but that may change if we can't manage a win today.

Butter FTW!

Salted butter, in fact.

I think it revolves around one's personal interpretation of "kinda sort of" big game. I think plausible arguments have been made to where this game would fit a lot of people's interpretation .......... another example would be one's interpretation of the term "big game". A ccg would definitely fit under that umbrella for a lot of people but I'll go out on a limb and say you, and the other, would have a hard time classifying it as such.

There's your problem ...... lay off the salt.

I know you probably didn't read the entire thread because it quickly devolved.  That is my point, the only issue here is whether Charlie can beat a MEAC team and buy time.  There is no upside to a win for the program.  It won't draw media or fans.  We're supposed to be able to beat chump teams like this that we pay to come here.  We've already killed the fan base.  A loss would surprise no one.  This is just a game that will either hasten or delay a decision on Charlie.  No one will put this on the list of consequential games to look back on.
