And that might be the case here, but Marshall has done a pretty good job of sending QBs to the NFL. That's got to be a draw as well.

If I was a talented kid who didn't have grades I'd head to  Marshall before JuCo. They have a track record of of sending guys to the next level and know how to to keep guys eligible. Better than getting lost in JuCo imo. It's 2019 if you can ball the NFL will find you
