Maybe I'm not in the loop or missed something... but...

What was the reason/explanation for why Ford did not play?

Yeah. I'm wondering what he did. We'll prob never know... but whatever it was... you can't do it before game 1.

Joey said on Twitter that even Strong did not find out until 5 minutes before the game.  I just have no words.

That's what has been mentioned but would a suspended player normally be on the sideline? He was helping McCloud warm up prior to the final drive.

Joey said coaches didn't know about it until 5 mins before game. How is that possible?? Last minute disciplinary issue, academic maybe?

I know I would feel really bad about what I did when my punishment was not getting to be embarrassed on the national stage in front of thousands of people, a better punishment to make someone think twice about violating the team rules would be keeping them in the game the entire time or having a personal coaching session with CCS.

I know right?  If CCS could have only gotten out his magic 8-ball and seen what the outcome was going to be, this could have been very effective.

That can't be possible since CCS absolves himself of all coaching and says his job is to stay on the academics. Granted for $2.5 million we could hire a person to be a personal tutor and mentor for each person on the team.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
