Friday night curse bro.

ESPN curse.

Whatever it is, it definitely feels like a curse.

It’s the curse of doing bad things, hiring the wrong people misreading the tea leaves and then blaming every single thing but ourselves for our failures. Don’t worry though because Vp Kelly has a framed motivational picture in his his office of a cat dangling from a tree that says “just hang in there” so I’m sure he will turn it all around, just look at all he has done in his previous programs that he lead. Also KB had the best offense in all of D-iiiiiiiii football when he coached at Keiser so he will be the perfect guy to lead the team down to his level since that is what we are aiming for.

1. Mike Hampton got beat on the regular and/or was out of position.

2.  Wilcox missed blocks.

3.  Atterbury is slow and should not be a Tackle but if he is the best we got we are in trouble. May need to switch him and Norman.

3. Brad Cecil is still growing. Unfair to him to be playing so early. It will help next year but physically is not there yet.

4. Kegler and Pinkney are back ups and not starting FBS tackles. Strength condition coach is a dud or the other teams are using performance enhancing drugs and clean cut Charlie is lagging behind.

5.  Receivers dropping balls inexcusable.

6. Blake cant make reads. He did make some nice throws to his FIRST read.

7. We were competitive until the Sack interception. Then all the wheels fell off.

8.   KJ sails failed twice on punt returns to fair catch and put us in bad situations.

9. While are we still undersized if we spent all that time in the weight room again?

10. Offensive scheme did not look bad but execution was a problem. Its like everyone forgot their jobs and blocking assignments.  Half back toss was a joke.

11. How much of a factor losing Ford 5 minutes before kick off played and the storm (worrying about family members) played a roll we will never know.

12. Rain that night made it cool and humidity and heat were a non factor in this game.

13. This game was the "Perfect Storm" of Murphys Law:  No humidity,  Storm coming, no Ford, playing a running team,  Dropped balls.  We faced adversity and we lost.

Maybe some of these things get a pass in year one of a coaches tenure, but we are into year 3 of what should not have been a rebuild.

Something is missing at the top that is leading to these issues.

Just an observation about point #9 that struck me.  They did a shot of Jonathon Taylor in the weight room.  I believe his squat was more than 100lbs higher than our strong lineman.  Is he just a freak or are we lacking?

Another over-reaction thread.  Jesus, how many is that now?

You don't start McLeod after 1 game, against arguably the toughest team we are going to play this year.  There is a reason that Blake got the #1 snaps in practice.

Now if his bad play continues going forward, then the Coaches will have to make those tough decisions.  I don't know what that magic number is, but it certainly isn't after Game 1.

Did not zero in on Blake only. There is blame all around. We could say that Mike Hampton played the worst.

Bullrush33 - My apologies to you.  I just read your opening post, and you make excellent points, pretty much spot on imo.  Can't disagree with anything you said.

So you’re saying aside from passing, running, catching, blocking, tackling, defending the pass, defending the run, kicking, coaching, conditioning, returning, leadership, motivation, recruiting, and gameplanning, we did good? We should be able to get all that shored up this week, I think.

So tell me Mrs. Lincoln aside from that how was the play?
