no successful person in life has been able to do it without someones help at some point.

he did get it done. he designed the offense and called the plays.

Joe helped for sure but they didn't run what he ran in high school. it was a hybrid and taggart went to baylor, Clemson, etc to help them develop the offense. Finding people who have had success and learning from them is a trait successful people have.

he did not fail at oregon. he had a top 10 offense. just like he built here and just like he will do at FSU

I agree and I hope he does well at FSU.

He needs to learn how to make adjustments and I think he still struggles with that.

I guess I'm comparing wins to losses in terms of "failing" at Oregon.

A top 10 offense didn't seem to win big games out there.

They played a chunk of of the season without Herbert. Most teams don't win big games with back up QBs.

Boise has an identity and they’re loyal to it...USF on the other hand has no identity.

The tin men now have an identity thanks to Frost and they’re sticking to it.

We had an identity. Everything that USF was under Leavitt.

Holtz politely didn't buy into it. Taggart completely ignored and if anything deliberately trashed it. Strong does not have the leadership capabilities to have a vision and implement it, nor does he seem to have the ability to sense, assimilate, or augment a previously existing culture, which is why the idea of identity at USF is floundering. Dad was axed and these nannies we keep bringing in aren't with the program.

Skip the ******* thread if you don't like it.  It's a message board and some may want to discuss this.  And of course last season figures into the discussion.

And so does the failure to go undefeated in the first year which I still believe foreshadowed CCS's downfalls which were clearly featured the year following (last year) and now undeniable.

David Yost has my vote! His offense last year at Utah State put up video game like numbers. He is now the OC for Texas Tech.

I'm sure glad Knute Rockne is still coaching at ND.  Changing coaches is for the weak.

Your CJL haterade does not change the fact that his firing marked a complete loss of program identity thereafter.

You've got me confused with someone else. Never hated CJL.  Just tired of people thinking a school has to have one coach in its history.

Ok, that's fair. Confused your comment as throwing in with the (few but vocal) CJL-haters on the board.

Schools don't need one coach, but, there are advantages to sustained tenures beyond 3-4 years (if at least moderately successful). They don't need to be decades, but tenures have gotten to be a tad rushed these days.
