He was fired from his position as HC at USF and has never been able to land a HC job since.

Move on!

Living in the USF football past is about as sad as our offensive line.

Just watched the Georgia State head coach talk to his team after a big win over Tennessee (the SEC team, not some scrub FCS squad) in which they were 25 point underdogs. What passion and fire! And when he said "look at what we've done and we've only been around for TEN YEARS."

It reminded me how fortunate we were to enjoy so many great moments watching the program grow from nothing. That process only happens once. Those were awesome times and CJL was instrumental to them.

My son was watching that game - texted me and said "Remember these days? They are doing a USF"  The announcers were talking about how quickly they are moving.  How sad...

What if and this is a big what if, the smear campaign we engaged in in order to have grounds to gut the program have set the foundation for why he hasn’t been able to land another gig?

Have you ever met, talked or heard CJL speak at an alumni luncheon or golf outing? The guys passion for USF football was incredible. He was a people person-- as long as you weren't some press guy looking to find controversy (and even that was not so present in the very early years). Yeah-- he was a bit of a hard ass as a coach but I do not recall him destroying OCs left and right. He went through his share of them but nothing outrageous.

Who said, "destroy". We had several during his years.  Yep CJL was a hard ass and obviously, as demonstrated in a multitude of our games, he was a motivator and a good coach. I'm actually a fan of his and recognize all he did for USF. And, as I've said before I think he got screwed. Some self- inflicted but most by admin politics.

It was some politics, mostly self-inflicted.  Judy Genshaft was amazed there was no apology, but his retribution against a player gets into gray areas of violation of federal law.  You can't let things like that stand.
