Bottom line this is a really big year for CCS, not only for his future with the Bulls, but in College Football.  If he fails here, then that's 2 strikes in a row.  His next gig probably would be below the AAC level.

I like what he has done in the off--season, and I'm rooting for him to succeed here.....His lack of half time adjustments and seemingly conservative does have me concerned.  I"m hoping that had more to do with the previous OC and talent level we had at the time.

Only time will tell!  Its going to be an interesting ride this year - one way or the other.

His next gig, if he got one, would be a DC...that’s about it.

Correct, there would definitely would be a team that would take him on as a DC, but his head coaching days are finished if he ends up failing at USF.

Some responses to what has been said since I made that silly prediction......

* CCS is Mark Kelly's guy now (like it or not)-- he had the chance to cut ties last December when it was pretty cheap to do so but did not-- so he has taken ownership of this hire imo. We had outs.

* Unless I missed "Win a conference Championship" stated directly somewhere (likely), I have always considered the CCS hire a band aid hire of sorts-- a convenient hire of a well known name coach with the old school footing most of the bill for the first two seasons. If anything, he was the replacement bus driver of the CWT USF era.

* If CCS loses his job at USF this season, I think his next job is retirement from coaching in general. He is not a young man. I get the impression he is a bit worn out on coaching sometimes. It is not like he needs the money or the headaches that college football provides. Just a gut feeling. It is part of the reason I felt we had the collapse last season and why I was hoping we cut him loose in an effort to bring in some new blood. Perhaps that is Kerwin Bell - something has got to give. PS-- I can't really see CCS transitioning to working in TV-- he just isn't that dynamic on TV. You can fall asleep watching his press conferences after a game.

That said, I am trying to be positive heading into this season and hope for a decent season.

This reminds me of my morning prayers.

"Dear God, I have been very good today, No grumpy thoughts. No swearing. No smacking people and no whining at all. But, I'm about to get out of bed now. So, I may need help with the rest of the day."

P.S. I'm not the author although, I wish I were.

TDS clarified that a cheap buyout was inaccurate. And concur that 7 wins is right for the over/under. Think 9 wins is just as likely as 5.
