That is easy for someone over a thousand miles away to say.

Apparently it is easy for people who live in Tampa too... :)

Yankees and Red Sox do not have this issue. Baseball is a tradition for those teams. We have little tradition for the rays or Bulls and many people that live here are not from here and have allegiance to other teams. I mean the watch parties here for other colleges are ridiculous.

Sure they do.  I sat in Yankee Stadium for a Saturday afternoon game just a couple of years ago that was no more than 60% full.

60% on a weekday would be a dream for the rays

60% on a weekend would be a dream for the Rays.  I guess we should enjoy them while they are still here.  When does that deal expire, 2027?

I've seen the Yankees and Sox in lean years and they didn't fill that place all the time.

Let's get Joey Knight on this.

Probably like 2 years in the entire history of baseball. When they meet it transcends any records.

Due to high prices on the first level. Rays charge nothing and no one shows...

Was talking separately, Yankee Stadium and Fenway.  Not when they play each other.

Kudos to New York that after winning 27 championships, 100+ years of existence, a payroll of $200 million, a brand new stadium, and 15 million more people in the city, they can get 15,000 more people to a game.

I don't have a study to point to, but just years of experience going to games.

The cost of attending live sporting events over the last 30 years has increased at a rate that far exceeds the rate of inflation during that same time period.

This is significant. The financial commitment needed to attend games in person has changed.

I also want to point out that professional sports stadiums are getting smaller (less seats).

Lets look at professional teams in Florida:

NFL

Dolphins moved from the Orange Bowl to Joe Robbie Stadium, then that stadium had a massive renovation - each step along the way the size of the stadium got smaller.

Bucs move from Tampa Stadium to Raymond James Stadium, that was a move to a smaller stadium.

Jaguars renovated the Gator Bowl, and the renovation took out seats.

MLB

Rays have closed the upper deck (and had done previous smaller renovations that removed seats).

Marlins moved from Joe Robbie Stadium to their new smaller stadium.

NHL

Lightning renovated Amalie Arena and took out a couple thousand seats.

MLS

Tampa and Miami franchises folded in big stadiums and have been replaced by Orlando and Miami franchises in smaller stadiums. (Miami TBD)

Exceptions: The old Orlando Arena and Miami arena were small and got replaced by larger venues.

That's what I like about USF athletics. For FB I got the 10 seat voucher pack for $175. For BB three season tickets down really low behind the basket adjacent to the bench for $300. Driving from Orlando, that's a lot of value and flexibility for under $500. It's a steal.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
