KJ Sails still has not received a decision from the NCAA regarding the status of his hardship waiver. He took to Twitter today to beg for them to grant it and let him be immediately eligible to play.

Looks like the basis for his waiver is to be closer to his son and because two close family members recently died, but I can't be certain of that.

How do these things work?

Sails: My family has had a terrible year and they need me back in Tampa.

NCAA: Totally agree. Transfer to USF, you'll received full financial-aid through a scholarship, AND we'll throw in a year off where you don't even have to worry about playing games, the time constraints, travel, etc. You can put much more time into your family and your academics. You're welcome!

Sails: Uh...can I be slightly less helpful? Is that cool?

I agree, it is an interesting situation. The actual consideration is draft stock and the ability to turn pro in order to provide for your family. I am always intrigued in how the NCAA goes about deciding these things. I remember during CJL's tenure we seemed to get a disproportionately high number of hardship waivers granted. Whoever was assisting the players at the University was very adept at what they were doing back then.

Well, you don't want to show up the Almighty NCAA.  They make their decision on their time when they feel like it and won't be guilted into doing it sooner.

A coach probably asked he take it down, which is probably best.

Or a disproportionate amount of really good players live in this area and life happens?
