Well probably because his first year he took the same  defense from the year before that was ranked 100th and improved the Defense to a top 30. He has had 1 good year and 1 bad year that consisted mostly of young players and a handful of upperclassmen underachievers. Fire him for what? He has 1 good yea rand 1 bad year. give the man a chance to break the tie at least.

Agreed. The defense looked good in 2017. BJM didn't have much to work with last year. Not sure any DC would have done well with that defense after Sawtelle went down and they had to move people around.

Why even read any preseason articles then?

We will see, down hill running will be Wiskey's MO.

I think we will control the Wisky run game for a half. But no way will we shut it down the entire game. The key will be getting offensive production when the D does make stops. Got to score...

For Wiscy I might try piano wire, lassos and tranquilizer guns.

That said, tackling is always a good thing for football defenses to do.   Teaching the players that they can use arms in the process may help.

That clip of Johnny Ford running over Vincent Davis has me concerned about our tackling. But according to CBJM tackling is much improved... Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I’d take a deep breath here.

1. The objective for Vincent Davis wasn’t to tackle Ford. The objective is to gain leverage and drive him backwards (a miserable result in that clip).

2. That drill for skill players has almost zero application to live game situations.

3. Its a quick clip of a single rep. Davis could’ve crushed Ford and others in the previous 25 reps, but we have no clue because we only have access to that one clip.

What are they doing different? Why believe we're going to tackle better? Other than it couldn't get much worse.

Because Coach said so, what else do you need?

You know they always tell us what we want to hear.
