A cool $1.5 million per school in addition to the roughly $650,000 or so per year in extra TV revenue

It has not been confirmed that ESPN will still pay same amount after losing UCONN (more like UCLOWN amirite).  According to ESPN:

"The contract does allow for ESPN to adjust if the American loses schools, but it is also possible the terms will stay the same, with larger shares going to the remaining schools."

Keep our fingers crossed, but don't count our chickens before they hatch.

That is huge if it works this way. No way the conference adds a team now.

I guess in the grand scheme of things, the AAC for football is nothing special however compared to the trek UCONN is on, you can put a fork in them because they are all done, a little perspective always helps when evaluating our situation.

The NE for college football has always been crap, this just puts another nail in the coffin.  Fluties miracle was over 30 yrs ago but feels like a lifetime, McNabb’s Orange bowl was over 20 and they got smoked, you guys need to stick to Lacrosse.

Butler, Creighton, Depaul, Marquette don't fit the bill, but the other 6 do. The problem is that they are essentially doing so at the expense of a football program that they have invested tens of millions of dollars into (including a stadium). If they truly have studied the subject and think that they will raise more money from donations by making the switch, then it will likely balance out financially and they will have the benefit of playing games that are more regionally appealing. It isn't like the basketball programs were struggling to get fan support even with the AAC schedule. I understand they were left on a geographic island, but to pull the trigger without having a plan for the football team makes the decision baffling. I venture to guess they will struggle mightily to schedule a full slate of games for the 2020 season.

I guess they see the writing on the wall and are moving in another direction.

I wonder how soon they drop football down to FCS or fold the program...

If they think they can get back to being UCONN in basketball, probably worth it ...

It would be but the BE is not what it was and will only deteriorate as the current tv contract expires, creighton Butler and DePaul please.
