So how to we get the the p5 status? We constantly take these 2 for 1 opportunities and win them. Let the other teams buy us out and fund the IPF with that money.  Hopefully some power 5 conference will take notice of us or pity, and eventually send us an invite to the big boy table.

They exchanged us for UTSA....

Texas is playing Florida in 2030 & 2031, wouldn't have effected our games.

And what a great G5 giveaway UTSA gave, if you didn't catch it in Brett''s post (I didn't, BM:DR):

Quote

Friday, the programs announced a five-game series running Sept. 17, 2022, through the 2030 season. All five games will be played at Royal-Memorial Stadium in Austin.

Except no G5 has taken that path to a P5 yet so it's not like a precedent has been set .... closest G5 to that description before now would be the still G5 Boise State.

Except now the college football landscape is entirely different than when Boise State was everyone's favorite underdog.

Wouldn't say entirely different ..... Over the last 10 years they averaged 11 wins/season, 2 NY6 Bowl wins and not an 0fer to be seen .... All I'm saying is that until some criteria for expansion comes out from those actually doing the expanding, it's pure speculation to what the next round, if there is one, will look like.

And that speculation has been, if memory serves:

  1. Facilities
  2. Academics
  3. TV Market Size
  4. Location
  5. Winning in Football
  6. Totality of Athletic Programs success
  7. Rinse
  8. Repeat

None of the remaining G4 teams are able to produce the revenue to make expansion a possibility. That number is around $18 mil. The best any of these teams can hope for is that P5 conferences add teams from other P5 conferences and the P5 conferences who lose teams backfill with G5 teams. Of course the major problem with that is that conference will probably no longer be considered a P5 conference.

Well we qualify for 2, 3 and 4.  Hopefully there is time for us to qualify in 1, 5 and 6.

Don't forget attendance. Realignment thread included a cold stone lock that it was going to be the Kanigits and the winner of the attendance battle for a certain year between Cincy and Houston ...

I wonder if we should have a new thread titled “expansion?”

Talk about a "worse case scenario"!
