Texas is scared of leaving Tampa with that "L", plain and simple.  They are sticking with the safe route by playing UTEP and UTSA.

I hope he works a miracle but there is no upside for a P5 to play us.  They play their conference games and schedule a few cupcakes and call it a successful season.

This is all clearly about money. This is part of the disparity of being Texas versus being outside the P5. 

No one goes to a UT game to see USF in Austin. They don't really care who the opponent is.  It could be UTEP or UTSA in their minds. Yet how much more money does UT make playing another home game (even if they pay USF $1.9 million for one game) versus playing a road game and making $0? I suspect schools like UT will soon play zero OOC road games unless it is some premier match-up like playing Alabama.

I believe these are 2017 numbers.

UT football operating costs: $6.6 million

Football Revenue $141.2 million

$2 million is peanuts to these guys.
