Genord Hits 10th Homer in Series Opening Loss at Tulane

Alex Bello extended his hit streak to seven games

NEW ORLEANS, LA., April 12, 2019 – The USF baseball team dropped the series opener at Tulane, 9-2, Friday at Turchin Stadium.

The Bulls (15-17, 2-8 The American) loaded the bases with just one out in the top of the first, but failed to score. The Green Wave (23-11, 5-2 The American) were able to capitalize, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom half. Two innings later, a two-run homer made it 3-0 Tulane.

Senior Joe Genord (Lake Worth, Fla.) led off the top of the fourth with a solo shot to left, making it 3-1. The Bulls had the go-ahead run at the plate in the top of the seventh with just one away, but failed to cut into the lead more. Tulane plated three more runs in the bottom half to gain control, 6-1.

Tulane scored three in the eighth before USF got one back in the top of the ninth on a Julio Cortez (Miami) sac fly, scoring Tyler Dietrich (Naples, Fla.) from third.

Key Stats

10 – Genord’s 10th home run of the year and 41stof his career.
