How CCS just built a team to beat Wis., GT and UCF

Recommended Posts

First, giving the reins to Kerwin Bell, with a few weapons to work with. I would personally like to see one or two more OL transfers to come in.

The biggest upgrade was on D. Getting Mason, Studstill and Burnett was a couple. Lapointe and Hampton are good players. We were in real trouble if we had to depend on Sanders and Roberts.

Mason gives you size in the middle and should beat out Sawtelle easily. Sawtelle can be a serviceable backup, but will cost you more than he would help as a every down player.

Broyles will be good on the outside and the added weight will help stop the run.

Vincent Davis will be first off the bench. He is a hitter!!!! Now with players coming in that have been in big time programs, we will finally be able to blitz with confidence on the back in. It will elevate the rest of the defense.

Transfers are always a mixed bag we will see if these kids are truly diffenece makers in August. Also, both kids were plagued by injuries at their previous homes. They're good adds but let's settle down a bit and let these kids get here before they're anointed anything.

We were not very good at lb and most of the secondary. Actually anything will be better than most of what we had returning. At least we now look like a college team opposed to the undersized squad.

Sounds like Leavitt methodology.  Going to piss off the members that want those wins over Tulsa, Temple, Tulane and the rest of the Conference America.

Yup, but I've seen enough transfers come through USF over the years to know that they are usually about a 50% hit rate. Lots of the size issues on defense were due to youth so let's not crap on kids who probably weren't ready physically to see the field and pretend they won't develop further. Especially the DB's. Adams was a terrible coach.....Pretty sure we already had a team that can beat GT, or atleast that's what our record last year shows. Also Wisconsin runs over teams full of guys like these two every week, they aren't sweating either of these kids....

Can't do bigger things if we don't do both. Gotta be able to do both like that program to the East did. Well, unless your ok with 9-3 and going to Birmingham tier bowls. Dunno about you but that's not the ceiling I want for the program. Pretty sure CJL would agree....

True, but if we can slow them down we have a chance in a shoot out. The middle has now become solid on paper. Sawtelle couldn't start anywhere but here. Sanders and Roberts may not still be ready.

Yup we will see. We at MINIMUM got better with physically ready depth. If this go perfect we got upgraded starters. I think one will make an impact the other won't be as advertised that's how these things usually work. Either way we're better this week than we were last week

You know I'm playing, but wouldn't you trade a win against Tulsa or one (or two) of the other Ts for a win over Wisconsin?

Only if the T loss doesn’t knock us out of a chance to play for the conference cup.
