Undefeated until we're not.

Senior QB, one of the best pass catching TEs in the country, a more experienced OL, two dynamic RBs, a solid WR corps, Horne back and Michigan transfer McDoom = game changing speed, new OC with a great track record.

Defense? That's the big question mark.

There's a lot to be cautiously optimistic about but the first game will tell us a lot about where the program is.

The only thing possibly keeping this from being 2012 all over again is Bell, but if the QB play doesn’t improve Strong will be nothing more than Holtz 2.0 and we’ll be looking for a new coach a year from now.

I wonder what it would take for Charlie to keep his job beyond 2019? Maybe a bowl game at bare minimum? If the offense is decent, but the overall results don't improve, would be interesting to see if Bell succeeds him..

If the team is worse than 7-6 he is definitely gone IMO.  Michael Kelly will want to bring his own guy in.

I doubt 7-6 gets him another year, but who knows. IIRC, Kelly preached patience, and that he believed in Charlie was a great fit. I thought we were Holtz era bad, and were lucky to win 7 games (remember Tulsa?). Even UConn pushed us to the limit. If 2019 turns out to be another crap year, hopefully we can afford to fire him, because if we want to increase the fan base, we definitely can't afford to keep putting a crap product out there.

Kelly preached patience because at the time, that was the politically correct thing for him to do. But a fact of life for AD's in college sports is that for the most part they are judged based on how the football team performs.  Michael Kelly will not want to be judged from the actions of a guy he didn't hire.  I am sure his rolodex of contacts is on stand-by for when the time comes.

You're probably right. If Bell isn't a significant upgrade, Charlie probably won't be around long.

This. If the defense takes a step forward, there's no reason we can't have a good year. There's enough talent on the offensive side to win games if the defense improves.

If Bell calls more than the HB dive we will be just fine. We have been too predictable.

Between crappy/average recruiting and lackluster results last season I'm not too excited for the upcoming season.

Why should I be?

Dont be excited. Just come into the season with low standards. If we do good let it be a pleasant suprise 4 you. Myself Im excited. This team will suprise everybody by how good it is. I cant honestly say we are going 2 beat Wisconsin, but i feel we can pull  a 10 win season. I realized that last year had a toxic locker room that may have added 2 the problems.  These new coaches seem 2 all have great personalities. I think we will see a new culture or vibe with this team.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
